On 25 May 2010 the Wear Point Wind Farm proposal has been given the green light by Pembrokeshire County Council's Planning Committee.
Below are the next steps:
- Infinergy will proceed by arranging finance for the project
- Planning conditions associated with the consent will need to be discharged before any construction activity commences
- Subject to the process going to plan, construction is planned for 2012 and we aim to have the project fully commissioned by the end of that year.
- First, the access for the turbines will be prepared and their foundations built, along with crane pads to enable 1,000 tonne cranes to be positioned alongside to lift the individual pieces which are slotted together to make up each turbine tower. Each turbine will take approximately 2 to 3 days to install, depending on weather conditions.
- Finally, all the electrical wiring for the wind farm will be completed and the turbines will be tested extensively before they start generating green electricity.
- The lifetime of the wind farm is anticipated to be 25 years, after which the turbines will be decommissioned and the land will be restored.
