Environmental Impact
When developing a wind farm, many environmental factors are taken into account.
Scoping
The first thing we do is identify the key issues that need to be researched in order to assess the potential impact of a development on the local environment. A Scoping Report was submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council in September 2008 and is available to download on this website. The Council provided us with a response in which they outlined what issues they would like us to address. We incorporated their requests in the investigations and surveys we consequently undertook during 2008-2009.
Environmental Impact Assessment
To assess what potential impact the proposed Wear Point Wind Farm could have on the site and its surrounding area, experts have undertaken studies and surveys to look at:
- habitats
- protected species
- bats and birds
- health and safety issues
- noise
- geology and hydrology
- archaeology
- air quality
- shadow flicker
- electro-magnetic interference
- radar
- visual implications
Our detailed research and information gathering to address these issues has fully taken into account the special nature of this corner of Pembrokeshire, with its Special Area of Conservation (SAC), the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and special sites of scientific interest (SSSIs). Infinergy has ensured that the wind farm will not impact upon these designated sites through the design of the wind farm itself.
Environmental Statement
The results of this work are reported to Pembrokeshire County Council in an Environmental Statement (ES), a document which accompanies the wind farm planning application and has been made available to the public in hard copy and on this website.
