Visual Impact
The proposed turbines at Wear Point Wind Farm will be sited along the northern edge of the Milford Haven Waterway, which means they will be visible from the southern side in particular, with communities such as Pembroke Dock looking out over them. Visibility from communities on the north side of the waterway will be limited.
The turbines will be 105m high at their tallest point - referred to as 'blade tip' or 'tip height' - which makes them about as tall as chimneys of the refineries which have been a familiar sight along the waterway for decades. Indeed their location on a brownfield site, in front of existing chemical processing and storage facilities, means that they are situated within an industrial setting, and not in a rural landscape. Please have a look at our interactive map to view the proposed wind farm from different viewpoints.
The local landscape was changed in the 1950s when the oil and gas facilities were developed, and will continue to be changed through the ongoing industrial development of the site and the wider area. The introduction of four wind turbines will be a long-term, but not permanent, change to the landscape.
